Art and design have always been where I could shine.
I started drawing at a young age and continued throughout high school to then join Art Center College of Design as an illustration major. In order to support my art schooling, I worked in many different design fields, drafting for architects, working for amusement park design businesses and animation companies as a background artist. I took a break from art college for a year doing these things and returned to Los Angeles to study film, again, at Art Center College of Design.
Several terms of film school led me to working in the film industry at special effect houses. I did storyboard work, matte painting, assistant art director for many sequences (pre-CGI in the eighties) and painted sets, models and props. I did a great variety of artistic related work and coordination of other artists and craftsmen before deciding I wanted to become a teacher of the arts. It took me two years and I graduated with my bachelor's degree and teaching credential.
I taught art for twenty-five years, ten in Los Angeles and 15 in Washington before retiring early at age 62. During my career, I pursued oil landscape painting, figurative studies as I love life drawing. I enjoy charactictures, cartooning, expressionistic paintings of the real and imagined world. Now, it is the top priority to continue to produce art and see what insight I can offer the world. I have a passion for social justice and want to create positive change through the arts.

I must give my many years of teaching credit. I learned so much from my students and colleaugues about patience and love; I was and am glad for my years of service and am particularly grateful for the time I had at Renaissance High School in Bemerton WA. It was a special small school helping those students that could not deal with the regular high school system. We got to know our students and guide them our best to productive and rewarding futures. I am glad to be in touch with many of them as I enter the last stage of my life. My passion for art pales in comparison to the impact and love I had and experienced as a teacher at Renaissance High school; forever grateful for that time and those friends!
